His suspicions soon turn towards an art gallery owner and the daughter of a hunt organiser, and a belief both were involved in the stolen antiques, leaving him to piece together the motive behind the murders when the gallery owner is later murdered.
Frost learns that Carr died from a fatal overdose of steroids induced by an unknown method, prompting him to question the victim's movements prior to his death. He soon learns that Carr was disliked by a number of suspects - a rival footballer who assaulted him in the match; a woman whose grandfather was conned out of money for DIY work; and a coach who resented him rejecting a transfer offer he had arranged. At the same time, Frost investigates the body of an unknown man who was found to be in possession of a stolen driving licence, but finds this investigation to be far from easy to solve.
